Yon Tanner Architecture (YTA) completed construction in May 2016 of the renovation to the 42,000 sf Runyon Elementary School.   Originally built in 1969, Runyon’s roof had severe structural issues caused by flooding from broken pipes and subsequent overloading.   YTA’s $12.5 million solution was a new system of columns, outside the exterior of the building to support the new steel roof structure.  The library was completely re-designed with new clerestory lighting, ceiling clouds and modern circular LED lighting to create a vibrant 21st century learning space.  Additionally, each classroom includes new skylights, higher, sloped ceilings, and new finishes throughout.
